Now many of us who works in design will testify that the much of their time is spend following procedures, templates and set patterns. Once the big idea has been signed off, it’s up to the production team to ensure the idea is put into practice by following a strict set of guidelines. I fully accept this. But boy, this week has been a slog.
A client brought me in to translate a number of Flash animations into HTML compliant files. It’s basically a case of copying code from one file and inserting it into another. Yes, you needed to know your way around a standard HTML structure, and I’m hardly going to be signed up by Walt Disney for their next film, but I’d like to think my albeit limited talents were wasted this week.
I was committed to the week long project, so bailing out was never an option. I just finished the week feeling completely unfulfilled. There is something to be savoured about heading to the pub on Friday evening following five days of intense, challenging and rewarding work. This was not one of them.
