With adding BT Sports to the Sky Sports package, it’s all well and good having access to a range of top level sports. But I only have one pair of eyes and only one television. This is developing into a major issue.
I’m not sure there’s a solution. Tonight, I’m being pulled this way and that. There are a number of top sporting events which really demands my focus.
- SS1: Euro 2016 Qualifying. Republic of Ireland laughably battling to get on the scoresheet against Gibraltar
- SS2: Super League. Leeds v St Helens. This is a great sport. It really deserves greater exposure in our mainstream media. People claim the sport is too simple and lacks hidden nuances. But you can’t get any more basic than football
- SS3: US Open. A great, great event. I love the theatre of the US Open. Spectators are demanding, vocal and unforgiving. There’s simply no hiding place for the players
- SS4: Deutsche Open in America. It lacks the authority and history of a Major but all the top players are out and it looks a great course
- SS5: Euro 2016 Qualifying. Northern Ireland laughably battling to get on the scoresheet against the Faroe Islands
- Eurosport2: Vuelta. Not as dramatic and scenic as the Tour de France, but the tactics and strategy of a major tour grips me. And the commentary on both Eurosport and ITV4 is compelling
And then I’ve not mentioned the best sporting event of the night……ITV4: Euro 2016: Germany v Poland. Another chance to witness the genius of Mesut Özil. These Poles get everywhere….looks like it’s being played in Warsaw.
So what am I doing?? I’m channel surfing all night, which means I see a little bit of each channel, without really becoming engrossed in a single event.
And to make things even more difficult (and futile?), I’ve got my laptop powered as I continue my long struggle to understand JavaScript……….
